Bad Times in El Royale – Exclusive Images of the Goddard Suspense Mystery
When filmmaker Drew Goddard gets an original idea, he can rely on the word ‘original’. The man who devised a completely new version of the horror genre alongside Joss Whedon in The Cabin in the Woods is back, opening a new mystery thriller inspired by pulp fiction, full of all sorts of somber characters. Bad Times at El Royale looks like a literary genre explosion, with a cast that includes people like Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Jeff Bridges, Dakota Johnson and Cynthia Erivo, all the guests in the titular lodging that register for a night that never I will forget
The film not only takes the billing of the stars in the new Empire’s Ultimate Autumn Preview, but we have two new images here so you can analyze. First there is Chris Hemsworth cult leader Billy Lee, unloading a bag full of cash. And is it that two of the inhabitants of the hotel, bound and gagged? Let’s guess that Billy has bad plans.

Next, here is Jeff Bridges as the father Daniel Flynn. Except, he does not seem to be his typical priest because he has the concierge of Lewis Pullman in a kind of strangler. Maybe you received bad room service?

Disgusted Jeff Bridges highlights the latest breakthrough in Fox’s black thriller “Bad Times at the Royale,” which portrays a decidedly nonreligious priest in a run-down Lake Tahoe hotel on the California-Nevada border.
Bridges plays one of the seven strangers who gather at El Royale over the course of a single night, including a shirtless Chris Hemsworth, a gangster armed by Dakota Johnson, the singer of Cynthia Erivo and a vacuum cleaner salesman played by Jon Hamm .
Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman and Nick Offerman also star, with Drew Goddard directing his own script. Goddard also produced “Bad Times.”
Bridges is warned by the employee, “This is not a place for a priest, father,” and admits later in the preview, “Can I confess something to you? I’m not really a priest.”
It is not entirely clear why the characters have come to El Royale and the description of the study of the plot is somewhat obscure: “Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at El Royale, a dilapidated hotel in Lake Tahoe with a dark past In the course of a fateful night, everyone will have the last chance of redemption … before everything goes to hell. “
Bridges received his seventh Oscar nomination last year for “Hell or High Water.” Goddard received an Academy Award nomination in 2016 for best screenplay adapted by “The Martian” and directed Hemsworth in 2012 “The Cabin in the Woods” from a script I co-wrote with Joss Whedon.
“Bad times at El Royale” opens on October 12.
The two minute trailer is more than enough to convince us that we will have a good time watching Bad Times At The El Royale.
First of all is the cast, among them are Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman and Chris Hemsworth. Then there’s the fact that it’s written and directed by Drew Goddard, who created the Daredevil series for Netflix, and wrote films like The Cabin In The Woods (which he also directed) and The Martian.
The Royale in the title is a dilapidated hotel that is located in both Nevada and California (the line between the states literally crosses the hotel). This is where seven strangers arrive on a fateful night in 1969.
Each one of them has a secret to bury, but things go quickly south for all of them … or, as the synopsis of the film says, everything goes to hell. We are definitely entering this hotel.
20th Century Fox has released new character posters for Bad Times in The Royale and oh lordy are some good friends. This story tells the story of seven strangers who meet at El Royale in Lake Tahoe and, in the course of a fateful night, discover the secrets. Never fear, because everyone will have the last chance of redemption before everything goes to hell.
The star cast of the film includes Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman and Chris Hemsworth, all featured in these new posters. The film by writer / director Drew Goddard, produced by Goddard and Jeremy Latcham, hits theaters this October 12.
When Drew Goddard’s first breakthrough in The Royale fell earlier this year, he gave us a wild look at one of our most anticipated titles of the fall season, leading us to think a million questions about the mysterious characters and the plot of the movie. . Now the second preview of the film has arrived, and although we are still not entirely clear about what is happening, what we do know is that Jeff Bridges can offer what is undoubtedly one of the best lines of the year. Give him a clock below!
It can be cynical like hell, but “Shit, get the whiskey” is probably on its way to becoming a slogan for many on the Internet. And, of course, it does not hurt to be delivered by one of the best living actors while disguising himself as a priest wearing some clear fighting wounds. That little dialogue on its own has sold us out completely in Bad Times At The El Royale, but it’s worth noting that the movie seems incredible above all that, too.
The second film by writer / director Drew Goddard, the new film is set at the El Royale hotel in Lake Tahoe, a facility that is divided right in the center by the state line that separates California and Nevada. On a fateful rainy night, seven strangers are looking for accommodation in the establishment … but what keeps things opaque is that each of them clings to a secret that could end up changing the lives of others. Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Offerman, Cailee Spaeny and Lewis Pullman populate the brilliant cast, and we could not be more excited to see what each of them brings to the show.
The film is only the second effort as a director of Drew Goddard, who previously brought us The Cabin In The Woods in 2012. He has definitely stayed busy ever since, creating the hit Marvel series Netflix Daredevil, which acts as a producer of the phenomenal series from NBC The Good Place, and winning an Oscar nomination for writing The Martian, by Ridley Scott, but we’ve been eagerly waiting for her to return to the helm of a movie. Amazingly Bad Times in The Royale only began to be produced in January, giving the project only about 10 months between the start of filming and its launch, but it seems that the thing is coming together perfectly.
Fortunately, we will not have to wait too long to see the final product, as 20th Century Fox will have Bad Times At The El Royale in theaters on October 5th. And if that wait is too much for you, make sure you stay tuned here at CinemaBlend, as we’ll soon have interviews for you with Drew Goddard and the cast members, including Jeff Bridges, Jon Hamm and Dakota Johnson.
I wonder if they had to spend a lot of time convincing Chris Hemsworth that he was part and parcel of his Bad Times character At The El Royale who seemed unable to button his shirt. However, it’s very good for us, and it allows Hemsworth to stand out among a very good cast.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at El Royale, in Lake Tahoe, a dilapidated hotel with a dark past. In the course of a fateful night, everyone will have one last chance at redemption … before everything goes to hell. Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson and Cynthia Erivo lead a star cast in BAD TIMES IN THE ROYALE.
‘Jeremy Latcham (Producer) – “Drew Goddard [Director] has put together a lobby full of amazing characters in his historic El Royale Hotel and I can not wait for audiences to meet these truly unique people and learn who they are and find out what they do It’s almost certainly not what it is expected to be, and that’s the great fun of the film, it’s driven by the character in the best sense. ”
